Distressing footage has emerged of a wild brawl that suddenly erupted between a group of women at a popular fast-food restaurant in Sydney.
Horrified onlookers watched as the fight broke out between the women at the Oporto restaurant at Brighton Le Sands around 9.30pm on Saturday.
CCTV footage shows a young woman approaching the restaurant counter before a group seemingly enters the restaurant and two women begin exchanging blows.
NSW Police said two women, aged 15 and 18, “were confronted by and (allegedly) assaulted by two other females inside the restaurant”.
A man in a grey shirt promptly intervenes and physically separates the two women before throwing the woman who had initially approached restaurant staff to the ground.
An onlooker filming on their phone captures the man throwing the woman to the floor with his arm around her neck, at which point her headscarf comes loose. He pins her down with his leg and points and shouts at bystanders to “get back”.
Despite police reports that the man was attempting “to intervene by restraining the two females”, another male onlooker, in a dark singlet top, approaches the first man and slaps him.
The women who allegedly committed the assault left the scene before police arrived.
While there were no reports of any serious injuries, an investigation remains ongoing.
The woman who initially entered the restaurant reportedly asked staff for assistance over fears she was being pursued, according to 7 News.
